Injuries
If an injury isn’t life-threatening or especially complex, odds are it can be treated at urgent care. Many people come in as a result of trauma or minor injuries that haven’t produced chronic symptoms. Some of the most frequently treated injuries at urgent care include:
- Minor fractures
- Whiplash
- Sprains and strains
- Burns
- Cuts and lacerations
- Minor car accident injuries
Illnesses
In addition to treating non-life threatening injuries, urgent care centers also treat minor illnesses. These illnesses can typically be treated with simple medications and don’t require further medical intervention. Here are some of the most commonly treated illnesses:
- Urinary tract infections
- Yeast infections
- Common colds
- Flu
- Ear infections
- Strep throat
Other Commonly Treated Symptoms
If you’re not sure which minor injuries or illnesses you’re suffering from, but you’re still experiencing strange symptoms, urgent care can probably handle it. In fact, it’s usually recommended that you seek out medical treatment for any of the following symptoms if they’re plaguing you. Here’s a short list of symptoms you might want to get checked out at urgent care:
- Swollen glands
- Rashes
- Wheezing or shortness of breath
- Abdominal pain
- Headaches
- Unexplained pain or swelling
Hybrid Urgent Care/ER Center
Urgent care and hybrid models serve as a venue to treat both minor injuries and illnesses, as well as emergency situations. If you’re not sure what’s wrong, but you’re experiencing one or more of the symptoms listed above, a hybrid model might be best for you.
Of course, this is just a small sampling of the issues any urgent care center or emergency department treats on a daily basis. But knowing how common these injuries, illnesses, and symptoms are can help you determine whether or not you should seek out medical attention. Don’t let a minor injury or illness go untreated because you’re unsure of what to do about it.
