A Few Lessons Learned From Weird Christmas Injuries in Years Past - Legacy ER
The holiday season is typically a time for warmth and joy, but every year, without fail, there are a few crazy injuries that land people in the ER or in an urgent care clinic. The bad news? There’s a lot of them. The good news? We can learn from the mistakes of others.

To help keep you from getting into any crazy medical situations this year, here are a few of the craziest Christmas situations that have occurred in years past.

Roof Mishaps

Some people love the holiday season, and others love it so much that their house becomes the equivalent of a laser light show. While the lights can be absolutely beautiful, falling off of a ladder or roof to end up in the emergency room is not.

Defenestration of Trees

It can be tempting to throw your Christmas tree out the window when the holiday season is over, but it’s really not recommended. One man in Germany found this out the hard way. As he went to chuck his tree out of an open window, he got tangled in the strands of lights and ended up following his tree to the ground. He sustained a severe head injury, but has since recovered fully.

Competitive Unwrapping

It might not be an actual competitive sport, but it’s certainly dangerous. If a gift or a toy is particularly hard to open, people will often break out the scissors or knives. Lacerations and a trip to the best in urgent care services for stitches is usually how that ends.

Shopping to Exhaustion

The Black Friday horror stories may not currently be on the rise, but that doesn’t mean shopping scuffles aren’t still happening. But beyond that, some people have literally shopped until they dropped. Foot injuries and exhaustion are serious concerns for those people who take their holiday shopping a little bit too seriously.

If you’re injured in any way this holiday season, make sure you seek out the best in urgent care services. There are approximately 9,300 walk-in urgent care centers in the U.S., so make sure you know where the closest location is to you before you try anything crazy this holiday season.
